Just checked my notes and I have John Tindale died in 1675 as starting up the Shipbuilding in Scarborough, Born North Grimston and buried there.  I really must spend some time writing up these notes and bringing trees up to date.

We're obviously both looking at the same family anyway.

Thanks for the offer.  At the moment we're concentrating on direct line only, and even that is expanding so much that it is difficult to keep track!  It would be interesting to know at what points our lines divide.

To reciprocate, I've contacted the man with the book, to see whether he can find anything else.  If you want the Harrises (Edward Harris married Isabella Tyndall) I'll be happy to pass them across.

I have a tree on OneGreatFamily.com if you're ever on that site, and another on Friends Reunited.

Scarborough has a Tindall Street.   No doubt named after the family of Tindall who were prominent in the town for years.     Exeter University site has detailsof their shipbuilding business in 1700s
Blizzard in Wilts.  Rose in Bucks.  White, Hodgson in Durham and Yorks

Thanks Yorky.  As you say, almost certainly named after the family.  By coincidence my m-in-law lives near Exeter so I may try and get her to follow up the Uni link.

Thank you Yorky - and Pendennis, I'd be interested to know if you find anything more out. I can't recall where it is you live but in a few weeks we  shall be moving to North Yorkshire and we will be visiting Scarborough to see what we can find there so if there is anything in particular I can help with in Scarborough please say
