Hi
from what i understand the Heys buildings are now demolished and were part of silkstone Row now europort.
The family were miners and domestic servants and the area they lived was probably closer to Whitwood than Altofts Arthur  Lowe is on the whitwood war memorial. The kids attended the west yorks colliery school ive found them online
dad was john, mum mary then ben, john william, arthur, harriet phoebe and clara which are all off the 1901 census giving 5 heys buildings as residence.
John and Mary came up from Staffordshire iknow there are a few Lowe families in the area.
Any help much apreciated.

Ady :)

Heys Buildings is still standing, I can't see that there would be two in the same area. It is a small row of terrace houses off the main road, Church Road, through Altofts. Silkstone row was at the lower end of Altofts, and is as you say no longer there, Heys buildings is nearer the centre. Not sure of the numbering but you would think No 5 is still there.
Hope this helps in a small way

Kev

Kev thanks for your reply.
However there were two sets of Heys buildings so im led to believe the ones down towards where whitwood is were the ones thats been demolished!
thought id found grandads house until someone on the pontefract fhs sit set me straight. maybe i shoul change the post to Whitwood not Altofts to save confusion,
