Hi Hopscotch

I assume that you have found them on some census ............... which census have you found them on ie. when/where ???  If you post the details then perhaps somebody can try and find them on the missing ones.  It might be useful to post the info from the marriage certificate also if that might help to locate the family.

Best wishes

Who has 1861 census? There appears to be an Amy Hill b. 1858 London along with an Edward Hill b. 1860 London and a Hannah b. 1852 (perhaps a cousin?) listed as 'visitor' but without full access I can't see who they belong to.  They're in Sutton, Surrey.

Not having any luck in the 1871 so far although there is a 13 year old Amy Hill in what appears to be a boarding school in Kensington - RG 10/40 Folio 23 page 48.

The death of Jane Hill - the certificate shows her as wife of William? Or as widowed?

As for WILLIAM HILL he appears to be living at

1841 census
Birdcage Alley, St George the Martyr, Southwark, Surrey

WILLIAM HILL  10                    Y (BORN IN SURREY)

he is living in a large household where every adult (15+) of which their are 10 was born in IRELAND   ???

I'm curious................how do you know he was a ventriliquist? from his marriage cert, if not? what was his occupation and his father George's occupation on that marriage cert?
