Mackin/McIntee
« on: Sunday 30 July 06 20:37 BST (UK) »
I am looking for an Irish ancestry site to trace the Mackin/Mcintee marriage.  I keep getting Ancestry.com whenever I do a search.  They only seem interested in the Irish who emigrated to USA or Canada.
Other Irish ancestor sites are willing to do the search for you at a price.
My ancestors came here to Scotland (Glasgow) after their marriage.
Please can someone help.

Glennels
I have McIntee ancestros from Armagh who came to Scotland. Furthest back I have is my GGG Grandparents John McIntee married to Mary Keenan.

They will have possibly been married circa 1859, and born circa 1839. They probably married in Ireland as their Son Owen was born in Armagh, Ireland. From the Glasgow Poor Relief Application of Ann McIntee we gather that she is their daughter and was born at 335 Gallowgate in 1871. So they came to Glasgow some time between Owens birth  c 1859 and Anne’s birth in 1871. I do not know anything of John amd Mary except their names.
The story is that there were two McIntee's who came from Ireland. These will be their sons, one went to Glasgow and the other went to Newcastle. My Auntie Mary remembers some Aunts coming to visit them in Greenock from Newcastle. I have hit a bit of a brick wall at Armagh unfortunately, so if you can shed any light I will be grateful.

I would be happy to Joeboy, but I later found out the family name was not McIntee, although that was on my grandmother's wedding certiificate, but actually McAteer.  Must have been a problem with dialect.
I also found Irish ancestry a bit difficult to follow up.  I could only get my ggrandparents death certificates and get the names of their parents from that.  Luckily Scottish certificates give you all that information.  Happy hunting

Do you know where and when Thomas and Maria married? (If they had any children born in Scotland 1860 onwards, the information should be on the birth certs).
