Looking for James Corrie Jardine or Andrew...and Alexander.  They emigrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada very early on...am also looking for Jardines who might still remain.

Hi Sharon

It might narrow things down a bit if you told us what part of the country they were from and which century you are talking about.

Did they emigrate as a family, or singly.

What approximate age were they when they left?

Hi Sharon -

I am interested in a John Jardine who was born in Dumfrieshire (date unknown) married a Julia Murray 9 Dec 1836 in Barony, Lanarkshire.  He died circa 1869.

I believe his parents were John Jardine and Catherine Rae.

Please contact me if any of the above names ring a bell.

I know the Jardines from Prince Edward Island, Canada hailed from Dumfriesshire.  The Clan there has an EXTENSIVE genealogy.  My grandmother had the book that they publish but it disappeared before she died this past March.  She was Marjorie Jardine and was 97.  (Jardine was her maiden name).  If you look online for their site and I do not have it off hand, they are extremely helpful about checking out things for people. I do not know if this helps but I would be willing to bet that they have the information you are looking for.

Hi yn9man

Wondering whether you had seen this 1841 Census entry which is a possibility for your John and Julia:

JARDINE   John 30    Agricultural Labourer    b. England
JARDINE   Julia 20 b. Outside Census County
JARDINE   Catherine 3 b. Lanarkshire
JARDINE   John 1 b. Lanarkshire
MURRAY Mary 45 b. Outside Census County
MURRAY Hugh 9 b. Lanarkshire

Address: Centre St, Glasgow-Lanarkshire

One child showing for them on IGI in the right time frame:

My grandmother was descended from David Jardine and Adelaide Campbell, Prince Edward Island, Canada.  Her father was one of their sons.   Arrival in Canada I think was very early 1800s possibly sooner.  I do not know anything about the Campbells but would like to know more.

MonicaLesl -  :)  :)

I recently saw the 1841 Census entry you referenced. That is my John and Julia.

My Dad always said his relatives were Scottish but that census and corresponding research prove him wrong. I haven't been able to find any additional information on the birth of John in England but his wife was born in America. Now why she went to Scotland from America is another mystery waiting to be solved.

Thanks again for your timely response and I apologize for my untimely response to you. This message just showed up today as a new reply to my posting.

John and Julia are my great great grand parents.  In 1880 my greatgrand father Robert was living in Bennington Vermont with his wife, several children and his brother James.  Both Robert and James married Annies.  Robert ended up in Hartford Connecticut.  James ended up in Berkerley California.  Sadly my great grandparents had to bury 4 of their adult sons before they passed themselves.  Attached is a picture of their grave in Hartford Connecticut. The small grave stone to the left and the three in the rear of their stone are the markers of four of their sons.

Im in the US.  If you dont mind me asking where are you located, and how might we be related.
