Football? What's that?

I think I've discounted the Wellington Terrace folks as that group of siblings were the children of John and Sarah (FISHER) LAMB.

They're in Burley in 1841.

I confess I don't know that particular George's fate.

I WISH there was something a little more precise out there!

Sorry!! If I read properly I'd see you say he is not the Wellington Terrace George in 1851.
But - are you absolutely sure he isn't son of John and Sarah? I have a marriage cert for my great grandparents where the registrar has put the groom's father's name as John when in fact it was James.
It looks like John and Sarah Lamb died between 1842 (when Thomas was born) and the 1851 census. If it was early in that time frame it means George was only 4 or 5 years old when his parents died. might he have made a mistake when he married?

Wish I knew. I wonder if there's a baptismal record out there - somewhere...

Hi

I did look again for you but found only two Wiliams who both married an Ann.
Neither of them have a George on their family list.
I did find a George but as mentioned by Willis his parents are called
Robert Lamb and Ann nee Tasker. They married in Leeds about 1830
George was born 28th October 1838 and christened on 22nd November 1838.
at St Peters Church, Leeds. Robert is a mason by trade.
It is not unusual for a Fathers name etc to be put wrongly on the certificates.
They could only put on the certificate what they were told and maybe
George put someone else in the families name down as his Father.
Also I have seen even Brothers names being put on the certificate
if the Father had died or could not attend the wedding.
If he did get married in Manchester maybe his Dad couldnt get to
Lancashire??
