William Henry Brierley, Died Salford Nov. 1892
« on: Sunday 23 July 06 17:55 BST (UK) »
By mistake I posted this message yesterday on the Lancs. Lookup Offers Board.
William Henry Brierley of 4 West Street, Broughton, fell from a ladder on 13th November 1892 and died, from the injuries he sustained, in Salford Royal Hospital on 27th November 1892. He was then 40 years old and was working as a house painter. An Inquest was held on November29th and the Certificate issued by John Frederick Price, Deputy Coroner  for Salford County Borough, recorded Accidental Death.
Can anyone please help me to trace a Coroners' or Newspaper Report concerning the accident?

William was my great grandfather.
Thank you.

You will probably find that the wording re: cause of death shown on the death cert is the same as will be on any coroners report.  I have 3 death certs all issued following an inquest, and in each case the wording is virtually identical to that on the coroners report.

Re: newspaper reports - sorry - can't help there

If you are within reach of Manchester Central Library, there are microfilm copies of local newspapers there. Not sure how far back these go.

Belated thanks to skb and CaroleW for responding to my query. I had hoped to be able to report further  success  -   but will just have to go on imagining where and how the accident happened... Your suggestions were much appreciated though.
