NALL family, Salford pre 1837
« on: Thursday 20 July 06 15:33 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on Alfred Nall with wife Ann who are the parents of Sarah Ann Nall born 1845. Please contact me if you know anything about them.

Hi Rhodes
I see by your Posts you are new to Rootchat Welcome aboard. If Sarah was born in 1845  and you know which County. You should be able to find her with her Parents on the 1851 Census  that will tell you where the parents were born and their age give or take 3 years? plus more recent ones. If you look on the top of this page you will see a census lookup  request board. So ask for a look up on there.Hope this is of some help

Hi Celia
Thanks for your suggestion but the problem here is that Salford 1851 census records were badly water damaged and we haven't been able to locate our Nalls though we know they were living in the middle of Salford. We hoped that there might be someone out there who had some pieces in the same puzzle that would help us find a date or place of birth.

Hi
I have looked on 1851 Unfilmed for Greengate and Regent Rd., Salford
There is only one Nall listed, Elizabeth 18
There are a number of Nall's in other 1851 Unfilmed census, if you require these, let me know and I will let you have them
But I can find no mention of Alfred, Ann or Sarah Ann

Regards, Dave

First of all thank you to Dave for looking up Nalls for me.  Elizabeth aged 18, silkwinder, living with Mary Honihouse (?), is the only Nall we have found so far in Salford in 1851. We have no evidence that this Elizabeth is part of our family, as we cannot link her in any way.  I would be very pleased to have your info about the other Nalls you have found in 1851.  Our Nalls were in Sheffield in 1841, but we have a Sarah Ann born in Salford in 1845 - it is her and her parents Alfred and Ann we are trying to locate.  Thank you also Celia for your offer of more information - always welcome!

Hi Rhodes/John & Kay
I have done the best i can with the on line directories not available to me. It has taken longer than i expected but he is a hard man to find ;D. and worth it if i can get a result. In 1850 there is only one Alfred Nall in Salford he was
Alfred Nall a Mechanic living at 14,Pear St Salford. To re-check this i then looked under street names. There wasn't a Pear St Mentioned.I then went back to see if i had the name right( go cross eyed after a bit ;D ) yes i had.So as i often find,Pear Street might be off another long road, it didn't say like most books do.I see these books as postal directories,so it makes sense to me. I have also looked in the 1853 but he does not appear at all in that one.If you think this is your Alfred.Maybe that added info will help Dave locate the family in a census.
