Thompson Family
« on: Wednesday 19 July 06 13:25 BST (UK) »
Hello,
My g g g grandmother was Hannah Thompson born about 1810 in Hinderwell, her mother was Ann Thompson.
Hannah's marriage certificate states that her father was, John Thompson, labourer, but I'm pretty sure that her mother's husband was, Thomas Thompson (seaman).
Ann Thompson's maiden name I suspect was Harland, she was born abt 1779 and she was married in Lythe in abt 1805/6.
I would love to find out more about her for definate as much of this is just guess work.
Has anybody heard of her or Hannah.  Hannah married William Raine in 1840 in Lythe.
Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue

Don't know if you have access to Ancestry but the parish records for Lythe are transcribed on there.  I've had a quick look through but can't find a birth for Hannah.  It is a bit of a trawl as the pages are not in sequence so I could have missed it.

There is a marriage for Thomas THOMPSON of Hinderwell and Ann HARLAND otp on 19/6/1805.  Witnesses - George Lennett, Thomas Swan, John Swan, Isaac Chapman and Sampson Rymer.

There are baptisms for William (1828),  Henry (1831) and John (1834)  THOMPSON all children of Hannah THOMPSON, spinster, of Lythe - these are all with Hannah and William RAYNE in Lythe on 1841 census.

There are at least 3 baptisms for children of Anne THOMPSON of Lythe, Widow

Jane Waller (1817), Moses (1820) and Elizabeth (1825).  Moses is also with the family in 1841.

May just serve to confuse you further but if you haven't access and need any more information I'd be pleased to help.

Cheers

Gina
