Wow,

We Peppitts are famous after all!!!!!???

Really interesting reading all your posts.

Have traced my Peppitt branch from North London back to Bedfordshire. But need to do a bit more work on proving the links... there are so many Williams! The name crops up all the way through to my grandfather!!!

Barbara

Marp,  Do you know the Mary that Thomas Peppiatt was married to before he married Rebecca ? I cannot see it on the IGI in Beds. Their first child William baptised in Sharnbrook in 1787. Three other children died soon after birth.

The Poddington Parish records marriage on 31 Jan 1753 is of William Pepiat, of St Neots to Martha Aspole, of Sharnbrook.

He was the only Peppiatt entry in the Poddington PR (although lots of Pettitts),  & she could be daughter of Richard & Martha Ashpole, baptised at Sharnbrook on 9 Oct 1726

Yesterday afternoon, I found while researching another topic in Aspley Guise that on 28 April 1777 a Catherine Woodland married Samuel Pippiatt.

Hi,

I do not seem to be able to track the first marriage of  Thomas Peppiat  (baptised  26 August 1764  Sharnbrook, the son of William Peppiat and Martha).   He was married to someone called either Martha or Mary - or perhaps both!

His first child William Peppiat was baptised on 15 April 1787 and the Sharnbrook PR seems clear in saying he was the son of Thomas and Martha Peppiat.

Subsequent children however are the children of Thomas and Mary - they are  Martha (1793), Ann (1794) and Thomas (1795) who died young.

The trouble is I cannot  find  a marriage to either a Martha or a Mary.  A Mary Pepiat died 24 April 1796.

Thomas Peppiat then  a widower later married Rebecca Ashton in 1796 and I have those details.

I am filling in some of the gaps in my Peppiat/Peppit family history thanks to all your help.  However, there are still some items which seem difficult to find.

Thanks again to all of you,  marp

The Aspley Guise PR says Samual Peppiat was from Great Brickhill, Bucks
