Rootschat Meet No 4 in Historical Hastings.
« on: Tuesday 18 July 06 13:09 BST (UK) »
Hi Fellow Rootschatters

Following phone calls from both our beloved leaders (Trystan & Sarah), I have been asked to arrange a Rootschat meet here in Historical Hastings. (Battle of Hastings, 1066 and all that)

The date of the proposed meet is Saturday 30th September 2006.

More details of possible activities will follow as they are arranged or confirmed, but at the present moment the itinarary is as follows:-

Saturday 30th September 2006

Proposed Itinarary

                                                  9.15 -                       10.42

Arrive at Battle Station and walk a couple of hundred yards to Battle Abbey where we will have tea/coffee on the Abbey Green and hopefully wait for other rootschatters to join us.

(Depart Battle Station at 13.05 – arrive Hastings at 13.18)

1.20

4.00
Walk from Castle via the Ladies Parlour (Jousting Ground) down the West Hill in to the Old Town and its Twittens with background commentary by a Local Historian.

4.30
Visit the Famous Fishermens Museum located in the Fishermans Church and have a guided tour around same followed by viewing the unique Hastings Net Huts owned by Britains largest Beach based Fishing Fleet. www.hastingsfish.co.uk/museum.htm

Evening meal in an “Old Towne” Eating House

7.30 onwards
Liquid refreshments in a local hostillery

If anyone wishes to stay in Hastings on either the Friday or the Saturday evening, then I will forward details of some accommodation.

Oh me too - and I volunteer to pick people on the way if they can cope with my car - a citroen ax (not particulary stylish!) and my driving!  I'm safe honest!!

I'll be coming from just west of Worthing....
