1841 census lookup for John & Ann Duncan in Paisley
« on: Saturday 15 July 06 03:57 BST (UK) »
As I am new to Scottish research I am calling for help and suggestions.  I am trying to find John Duncan and his wife Mary (Fortune) in the 1841 census.  They emigrated to New Zealand on the Mooltan in 1849 but were supposed to be living in Paisley before that.  They may have had a son Henry at the time as he was born in 1841.  They were married in 1839 at Abbey Close, Paisley.  Their parents were Henry and Elizabeth Duncan (Walker) and William and Euphemia Fortune (Marshall) if anyone can find these I would be grateful.
Can someone help please.

Thanks Lindsay
This is great news.
I have found some info on them in the IGI but no church records just LDS submissions and I am not sure how correct they are.  Do you know anything about them.  How much info is there about this family.
Cheers.

William and Euphemia Fortune in Paisley

I saw this couple mentioned and was wondering if anyone might have more information about them?  Their son Andrew Fortune married in Paisley in 1834.
I am wondering if there might be a connection to the family I am researching, John Paisley and Janet Leitch, married in Paisley in 1823.  They had 6 or 7 children, all born in Paisley in the 1820s and 1830s, but I cannot find birth records for these children.  Their son Andrew was born in Paisley 28 April 1831.  The family emigrated to Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada.

Hi Joe,

Thanks very much.  I think it's the Fortunes with the lodger because his name is Leitch and "Mrs Fortune" was Janet Leitch.  Her brother?
