« on: Wednesday 12 July 06 08:21 BST (UK) »
I am collecting the details of ALL Joseph SPARK(S) (ES) born between 1780-1810 in the Garrigill/Alston area.

He was later spotted in Darlington DUR between 1820-1830 with wife Mary and children: George, Jonathan, Mary, Elizabeth.

Occupation given as labourer and mason.

Havent found them on any census with any certainty.

Desperate to find 3 x g grandfather!

Hi, found this one reference in a copy of Garrigill MI's I have to Spark's (although the MI's are taken from a graveyard obviously not in very good condition). Tall something Flowers something. Thomas Watson of Dryburn died 18 July 1845 aged 52. Elizabeth his wife died 30 January 1882 aged 71; Elizabeth their daughter died in infancy, 9 June 1839; Mary their daughter, widow of Jonathan Spark of Hilton Hall died at Dryburn 4 or 14 February 1887 aged 52 (probably 4 not 14); Joseph Emerson son of John and Hannah Watson of Aimshaugh died 2 November 1872 aged 47.

Hope this helps

Anna

Many thanks for the SPARK data, I've just got back from 2 weeks holiday hence the delay in replying.

All the best

I think the MI may contain a typo. Joseph Emerson WATSON who died 2 Nov 1972 was probably aged 17, not 47.

I forgot to say that the only Joseph SPARK I have found in Garrigill and Alston with the dates you quoted was son of Jonathan and his wife Ann baptised 18 May 1788 at St. John's Garrigill and I think he was buried there on 19 September 1830. I have not found a marriage for him.
