CARNOCK GRAVEYARD - Barbara McDonald SOLVED!!!!

If anyone is living near Carnock Fife would they be able to see if my great grandmother is buried there?
Barbara McDonald died 2nd September 1932.
(Or tell me how to find out)

Barbara  was living at Bonhard Cottages at the time of her death with her husband John which is strange as they had lived in Glasgow City and the Cambuslang area all their lives but maybe their daughter Catherine Ritchie who married a
dentist James Ritchie were living there.

Where do you live Tiglet? Is it convenient to phone? Lair records from 1867 onwards are kept by the Cemeteries Dept, Dunfermline. Tel: 01383 724653.
If this is not feasible, I live in Dunfermline and could have could have a run out and look for you. Let me know if you need me to do that.

Hi trishmac,
I phoned the Dunfermline Cemeteries department. Although the lady who answered the phone was lovely and had a look at a couple of nearby cemeteries she couldn't find my Barbara McDonalds burial. I emailed the Dunfermline Library and the gentleman there was able to tell me that Barbaras husband John was still a tenant in 1933/4 from the valuation register.

Now stumped as to where she could be buried, as she  definately     died in Carnock and was resident in Bonhard Cottages.

Hi Teresa

Do you think they might have been buried back in the Glasgow or Cambuslang area? If they were reasonaby affluent that is a possibility. My aunt and uncle are interred back up in the North-East of Scotland though they had lived in England for decades.

I looked on the map and Bonhard Cottage is on the road to Saline, but it is several miles away - Carnock would be much nearer. Can you remember which other cemetries the lady looked up?

I went to the Crematorium in Dunfermline where the burial records are supposed to be kept. The people there were very helpful but unable to turn up records for my people in Carnock/Cairneyhill. It's not that they weren't buried there it's just that records don't seem to exist.
 As far as I can see the same applies to memorial inscriptions. It's frustrating.

I have at last solved the  puzzle.  The family were in Bridgeton, Glasgow then Cambuslang then Springburn back to Cambuslang and then just the parents went to Carnock where Barbara died. Her body was taken back to Glasgow and buried in the plot next to her daughter who had died in 1909 in Springburn at the Sighthill Cemetery. I haven't been to the cemetery but hope to get there one day.
The mystery of why they moved to Carnock is still unclear, no-one from the family had connections to the area.
