SLAYMAKER/KEMP Help Please
« on: Monday 10 July 06 23:42 BST (UK) »
I am trying to help my 75 year young mother trace her routes and need some help.
The  information that we are certain of is
Her mother - Louisa Adelaide was born 13/10/1911 in Town Road Edmonton, the Father id Charles Llewlyn Kemp(greengrocer) and mothers maiden name is Charlotte Slaymaker
I have tried to search for their Wedding certificate and although gone back as far as 1904 have turned a blank.
We think we may have found Charlotte in the 1891 census at Kings Head Inn in Chertsey age 3 with her Grandparents,  and possibly  the reference to her birth in Staines in 1887 but without the wedding certificate cannot be certain ...can anyone help please

Hi Cazza

I have found this Charlotte on the 1901 Census, and hope that she is yours.

1901 Census England Oxfordshire Henley
Rg13/1369   Folio  43  Page 4

18 Hart Street

SIMMONS
Wm Anker Head Marr 43 Land Agent & Auctioneer
SLAYMAKER
Hannah C Housekeeper Marr 45 Housekeeper Oxon Henley
William H  Husb Marr 40 Carpenter Buckinghamshire Medmenham
Charlotte Dau Unmarr 13 Surrey Ripley

In 1891 William Henry and Hannah C SLAYMAKER are still in Henley on Thames, William is still a carpenter and Hannah is a caretaker of offices.  There were no children with them.

A check of FreeBMD  shows a marriage for a William Henry  SLAYMAKER and
Hannah Charlotte SPARKS in Reading,Berkshire,  Dec Quarter 1880  2c 768.

William Henry SLAYMAKER's  birthplace on the 1901 is given as Medmenham, Buckinghamshire which is also the birthplace of Charlotte SLAYMAKER senior of the 1891.  The birthplace of Hannah SLAYMAKER in 1901 is Henley Oxfordshire, the same as William SLAYMAKER in 1891.  Do not know if this means anything useful or is just coincidence.

Cheers
Karenlee
