Sorry for the confusion, derdod. I should have said the question was directed to cookson as I'm not sure what's going on with this thread.

Sorry for the confusion regarding my McShanes, my McShanes came to Scotland from Lurgan, Co Armarh, circa 1850 , henry mcshane, married a Margaret Harbison, in Lurgan, then moved to Ayrshire, Scotland, he had a son Henry, who moved to Bothwell, Lanarkshire, and worked in the coal mines, wanted to make contact with any McShanes who knew any info on Lurgan McShanes. Cheers. Cookie.

Lurgan is in Co. Armagh but you've posted this on Donegal board which is why information of Donegal McShanes has been posted here which has caused a bit of confusion. Will move this thread to Armagh board and anyone who is interested in Donegal families can start a post on Donegal board (if they haven't done so already).

Hi derdod, there is a family listed in the 1911 census for house no. 50 Merrion Street in the falls Belfast Antrim in the 1911 census on the National archives site with similar christian names . However not all the dates tie in but as you now many were misrecorded. Maybe worth a little investigation??
