Hi Mac
Thank you for that info. I have been in touch with some of that family line to try and prove their Arthur Patten and mine are the same. On my Arthur Jones's birth cert, he is listed as Arthur Edwin (no surname listed) and has his father as Arthur E Patten, policeman, Geraldton. Their Arthur is an Arthur Wenn Patten, so very confusing. Arthur Jones's mother Mary Jane Cable was reported as being a house keeper to Arthur E Patten, a policeman at the time she got pregnant. He was inbetween wives at the time, Harriet then Margaret....
They do not have my Arthur Edwin Jones/Cable/Patten in their tree at all, as he would have been illegitimate....
I just need tp prove Arthur E Patten and Arthur Wenn Patten are one and the same person....I have been in touch with an archivist for the WA Police and he says there was only one Arthur Patten listed as a policeman in the Geraldton, Greenough, Williams area etc at the time...So one can only assume, but not happy with that....
I have not been able to do much follow up on this as we are moving into a motor home and intend to travel around Oz for 3 - 5 years, so have to put on the back burner for awhile, at least any follow ups etc. Will stil lhave a browse now and then, time permitting...
Thanks again
Regards
Kazlee

Hi Kazlee
Arthur Edwin Patten b1879 Fremantle (Arthur E Patten & Mary Jane Cable)

Re: Arthur Walter Glenn Patten b1880 Williams Bridge
(parents Arthur Glenn Patten & Marion Elizabeth Patten nee Andrew/s (they married in 1879 Perth ..his name spelt as Arthur Wenn Patten )

Seems name SHOULD be WENN ...as Arthur WENN Patten's father John (of parents Joseph & Mary) first married Mary Ann -(?) (b1813) then 'de facto' (?) Harriett WENN (nee Sensor) (1814-1891). (dau of german jeweller)

(John, Mary Ann Patten and Harriett Wenn all arrived on 'Simon Taylor' 1842).

'Arthur Walter Glenn Patten' m 1904 Brunette Brand in Northampton

Arthur Wenn & Margaret Patten (m1869)(Geraldton) had chn Edith May b1870 & Walter Henry b1872 d1875. Edith May m 1890 Joseph Herbert DRAGE (parents John & Margaret Jane)

There's a 1906 death for an 'Arthur Patten' (that's 'Arthur Wenn') and a 1942 death for 'Arthur W'  both at Northampton.

Hope this helps.
