Pam,
Have just checked my research notes and have plenty of background on shearer Jas Clark who boarded Koombana at Geraldton (and who did not appear on some early casualty lists because he did not book his passage in advance).

I haven't figured out how to send a PM on rootschat yet. I will take another look tonight.
Annie

Still in the dark about how to send a PM, but perhaps a third posting will change my status and make it obvious. Please excuse the redundant post....

Hi all,
Wow, I am glad I decided to search for Koombana on here!  I saw a post about another shipwreck and thought I would see if anything came up for this.

My great aunt also perished on the Koombana.  She is listed on the passenger list as Miss Price (her name was Florence).

The really odd thing is that I have a copy of a post card that she sent to a friend before she left that reads:
"Dear Mrs L.....,
I am very sorry but I am going by the Koombana on Tuesday.  I don't want to go but I must.  I have engaged myself for 12 months.  I would have like to have come and said goodbye but it is impossible.  I feel very much troubled.  You will say goodbye from me to all friends.
Goodbye from Flo"

It seems she had a premonition that it would not end well.  :-(

I have some information that was sent by an organisation in Port Hedland in maybe the 1970's about the disappearance.  The whole pearl story is very intriguing also.

AnnieRose do you have anything on Miss Price amongst your info?  She was a young woman and going to be a governess.
