I am searching for any further information on William Treloar, Miller, at Tregonning Mill in Stithians, cornwall in 1841. The only current information I have is from my ancestor (his daughter - Dorcas), 'family history' and an extract from the 1841 census:
Tregoning Mill,1,William Treloar,45,,Miller,In county,
,,Elizabeth Treloar,,45,,In county,
,,Jane Treloar,,19,,In county,
,,Grace Treloar,,17,,In county,
,,Caroline Treloar,,15,,In county,
,,Dorcas Treloar,,8,,In county,
,,William Buglehall,15,,Miller,In county,
Since ages were rounded down to 5 years, William may have been 45 to 49, giving a birth date of 1792-1796.
I have traced Dorcas Treloar (odgers, then rossiter) and her sister Jane (hocking). But neither are with their parents in 1851 (I realise they most likely died). The mill is abandoned in 1851 as well - and does not seem to have been used for milling until the current owners (who I have met) restored the water wheel.
Grace may have married Richard Satterley in march quarter 1844, but I have had no success finding Richard or Grace in the 1851 census (Richard may have emigrated to australia).
Caroline may have married in quarter June 1846, to an unknown partner. The other marriages on the freebmd entry page are:
Bennetts James Redruth 9 311
Lander Charles Redruth 9 311
Mills Elizabeth Redruth 9 311
Prisk Mary Ann Redruth 9 311
Roskilly Thomas Redruth 9 311
Simmons John Redruth 9 311
Simons Elizabeth Redruth 9 311
TRELOAR Caroline Redruth 9 311
My current, unproven, supposition is that William Treloar may be the third (surviving) son of Henry Treloar - details at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~treloar/06thHennery.htmN.B. The actual entry on the page above cannot be my ancestor - but when you look at the linked page -
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~treloar/07thWilliam4.htm - you see that the attribution is uncertain. There is one common name (grace) with william and henry's children - as well as being henry's wifes name. Also, henry was a miller, as was william. St Gluvias is close to Stithians, and is where Henry and Grace married.
Any information on William Treloar would be very gratefully received.
Yours
Andrew Stratton
