I have recently joined rootschat and am interested in your postings for Joseph Strutt.
My GGG-grandfather was named Joseph Strutt and I have him being born in London c1800. I have his wife as Jane Strutt b C1811. Two children as follows:-
James Strutt b. 7 April 1836 in Bloomsbury and Joseph Strutt b C1843. Joseph married Charlotte Heartfree in 1864 and 8 children were born to them.
James Strutt married Esther Holloway in 1861 in London and they had two children: Henry Strutt b 20.12.1861 and Esther Jane Strutt b 25.10.1876.
Henry was my g grandfather.
.This seems very close to recent postings by you. would love to hear more from you. Cheers gblond australia.
Hello Bryant

I have found George Younge, Mathew Henry, Matilda and some not originally posted
i.e. Percy, Rachel and Jemima.

Have no information of Joseph, Mary Ann, John, Stephen or William.

I have left the posting on hoping that at least one of these people would be
on someones family tree.
Regards
Spendlove

Hello gblond,
Thanks for getting in contact.
Do not think that my Joseph Strutt B1802 Bpt same year St. Andrew Holborn, his parents
did not marry until 1800, he was their second child. Your Joseph is quite clear on the
1851 Census as to his year of birth - but who knows.  Have you checked any actual
Parish Register Records for St. Giles/Bloomsbury for his birth or marriage?

There are a number of Strutt Families in London, some originate from Suffolk, some from
Sussex and some are from London - just to add to all the confusion not least of which
is the transcriptions of the name.

I can supply you with other information about your Joseph who married a Jane:-

1841 HO107/672/3 Folio 13  listed as STRATT
Joseph  40    born Middlesex   -  Book Binder
Jane      30          "
James      4          "
NOTE ADULT AGES WERE ROUNDED DOWN IN THE ABOVE CENSUS

1851 HO107/1508 Folio 104 Sch 346
Joseph     51    Book Binder   London  Midd
Jane         48                          Kent                                (Born 1803?)
James       15                         London Middx
Joseph        9                         London Middx

Joseph Died March Q 1861  St. Giles   lb  318

1861 RG9/168  Folio 68  Sch 413   LISTED AS SHUTT
Jane    55   widow                   London
James 24   Book Binder              "
Joseph 18   Gilder                      "

1881  RG11/441 Folio 120
Infirmary of the Whitechapel Union, Bakers Row, Mile End New Town
Strutt Jane   77   Pauper     St. James Middlesex.

Do you have the marriage details of Joseph Strutt to Jane or any Bpt records for their
Children?

I have a Will  for a Joseph Strutt the Elder, gentleman proved August 1849.  However
he leaves all his property to his daughter in law  Harriett and no one else is named in
this Will.  If you think this may be the Father of your Joseph B 1800 I would be pleased
to send you a copy.

Regards Spendlove.

PS I have submitted corrections for all the incorrect Census transcripts.

thanks very much for your reply. The Strutt information looks very interesting and I will spend time comparing it to my information. Unfortunately, I am hard pressed for time at moment as I am going away for 4-5 days. I wanted to at least acknowledge your email.

As soon as I return, I will make contact with you and provide more information.

Regards
Gblond

Hi Spendlove

You asked me on 1 June if i had marriage records for Joseph and Jane Strutt. I have no marriage record.
I do have detail of their sons, James and Joseph.

James Strutt born 7.4.1836 in Bloomsbury. He married Esther Holloway on 18.9.1861. they had two children Henry and Esther Jane.He died on 13.11.1900 in Bloomsbury Infirmary aged 64 years. I have a copy of death certificate, with information provided by his daughter Esther Jane Strutt. His address at death was 3 Rosoman Street, Clerkenwell.

Joseph Strutt born C1843. I have information from a deceased relative (which I cannot verify at this time) that he married Charlotte Heartfree on 30.7.1864 and then having 8 children: Sarah-Jane, Louisa, Saah, Joseph, Eliza, Alfred, George and Ada.

You also asked: "Have you checked any actual
Parish Register Records for St. Giles/Bloomsbury for his birth or marriage?"
Answer: No, I have not

you also asked about a will for Joseph Strutt the elder who was a 'gentleman'. I doubt that this has any connection to my Joseph Strutt as he was a bookbinder at time of death in 1900.

Look forward to hearing more from you.
Cheers
gblond

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, just hoped that the Will of a Jospeh Strutt the Elder
who died abt 1849 would be the Father of your Joseph B abt 1800, but
there appears to be no connection.

Will keep looking for my Strutt and should I discover anything about yours
will let you know.

Regards
Spendlove.

"Searching for any infomation on the following:-

STRUTT  George Frederick    1801 St. Mary Magdalen
"           Joseph                    1802 St. Andrew Holborn
"           Mary Ann                1805   "      "         "
"           John                       1807  St. Anne's Soho"

You will not find any information on the census for Joseph Strutt as he married his cousin in about 1835? and moved to Australia where he died in 1840

My great grandmother was Ada Strutt. Her parents were Joseph Strutt and Charlotte Heartfree and I believe Joseph's father was Joseph Strutt, the bookbinder. I haven't much link to that side of my family but I do remember meeting Ada for the one and only time when she was very old in a nursing home somewhere in London in 1971.

Thanks fopr the reply. I think Joseph Strutt the bookbinder became the Duke of Northumberlands record keeper and his son Joseph Strutt was a surgeon who married my grandmother after he married a Jane Strutt. I would havce to checck my records. there are too many joseph strutts born at this time
