Forgot to say that ages of adults in the 1841 were rounded down to the nearest 0 or 5 years, so Philip's age of 15 gives an age range of 15-19.

From IGI (extracted record)

Philip Martin GILBART bap 9 Sep 1821 at Phillack
Parents - Philip GILBART and Joanna

Parents marriage (same source)...

Philip GILBART married Johanna MARTIN 5 Feb 1817 at Phillack
Sussex:
Lishers of Sompting, Cunninghams of Houghton, Hammonds of Angmering, Humphrey, Hambleton, Ayling, Pope, Gent
London: Le Franc, Watson, Read
Gougy. Thank you once again. All this information right from the beginning definitely looks correct. I can't believe that it was any other than my Gilberts/Gilbarts, the links with Philip, Phillack, and the job descriptions are just too close to be anyone else.
I have ordered Jane and Philips marriage certificate, which will hopefully tie in all this information neatly.

If anyone is interested I have some photoshop scans of Philip Nicholas Gilbert's family bible.

Hi everyone,

I received my Jane/Philip Gilbart ,marriage certificate. 8) Looks good. Confirms that he was a mason. It also confirms their father's as John and Philip, which matches the info above.
Interestingly, Philip Gilbart was a widower! So, somewhere between 1841, and 1851 he was married to someone else. Jane is his second wife.

Thank you once again for all your help.

Greetings

Sarah
