Found this family on the 1881 Census and wonder if somebody would please look to see if they are still living in the area.

Hi,I know this is a different subject but I am having extreme difficulty in establishing parentage or locating members of  my Nichols line.
I found James Nichol b 1823 Downam Nbl in Yester East Lothian in 1851.His brother Adam b 1818 ?Surrey marriage banns to Jane Shiells posted in Yester but ? married in Stockport England 1845. His son Robert James b Sunbury. 1849.I am also trying to find Andrew Nichol ? wife Helen, daughter Ann,a sister Margery who died from diptheria I believe abt 1883 and Thomas.All I have is that James mother was MARY b 1770 Lanton. and a family letter to Australia dated 1886
Hope you don't mind I waswonderingif you have come across any of these people in your research.

Your Nicholls family seem to disappear! I found them on the 1881 in Roade, but of the children you mention, William and Emma are not there - just Edward, Sarah and Amy, plus four boarders.

In 1891 the only person I could find who might possibly be connected is:

William Bennett, head, 24, railway ticket collector, b. Whichford, Warwickshire
Ellen Bennett, wife, 29, b. St Helens, Lancs
Fredk Walter Bennett, son, 2moths, b. Warrington, Lancs
William Nichols, boarder, unmar, 26, railway goods guard, b. Castlethorpe, Bucks

... but then couldn't find him (or anyone else) on the 1901!
