Hi Michael

I've very recently sent Julie Census entries for the TOMKINSON families of Walker.

Julie had confirmed she already had the 1851 Census entry for John, Mary and baby John.  John's parents John (born 1801) and Elizabeth are living next door.

Census entries indicate that John (born 1801) and John (born 1829) were both born in Staffordshire.

i am trying to establish how she has went back to 1829 because there are 2 john tomkinson born 1829 in bilston, staffordshire and both lived in walker, newcastle
one was born to john tomkinson and the other to richard tomkinson and both fathers are living in the same street in 1851.
can she confirm that john born 1829 father was called john or richard.

ps  i live in walker, newcastle were the tomkinson lived

Hi Michael

Julie originally told me that she had John (born 1829) on the 1851 Census with wife Mary and baby John.

The other John, son of Richard, was still living with his parents in 1851.

From there I gave Julie the 1841 Census entry when John (born 1829) was living with his parents John and Elizabeth.

I don't know if Julie has John's (1829) marriage certificate to prove his father was also John.

Julie still seems to think that John (1829) was born in Newcastle, but Census entries record Staffordshire which is where she should be looking for his baptism.

hi helen
i wish i never started this  ;D
yes she has it wrong, the son john 1850 was born newcastle and the parents are married 1849 in newcastle
the marriage certificate would answer the question who is the father. i need to trace how she went back to the 1851 census, but i cannot find john and mary in the 1861-71 census as yet, but i am still looking.

i did the research on this family last year for a friend and he is linked to richard tomkinson 1805 coseley, sedgley staffforshire and it looks like richard could be the brother of john 1801.
i wish julie would give me more details
i realise we are 8 hours ahead or behind.

regards
michael
