« on: Wednesday 28 June 06 03:49 BST (UK) »
Hi!
Could anybody help me out with the 1871 Census for Hemel Hemstead, Herts?
I am looking for the family of Henry Lovell and his wife Leah Ann.

The family would probably be as follows;
Henry Lovell Head, aged abt. 30 born Grendon Underwood, Bucks.
Leah Ann Lovell, aged abt. 30, born Quainton, Bucks.
Elizabeth, aged abt. 1
Herbert,   aged abt. 2
William,    aged abt. 4
Henry J,   aged abt. 7
Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Bram Taylor

Hi Bram
I know its a long time since you posted this message but just thought I'd let you know that  the Herbert Lovell in your message was my great grandfather. He served in the boar war and then emigrated to Canada (but came back breifly for ww1) leaving his family here in England. He died in 1958 in Vancouver. Lizzy Lovell his sister married a John Brooks they lived in Bushey, Herts.  Brother Henry Lovell had 2 children who died in infancy and also worked on the railway as did my grandfather (Herbert's son Herbert) who he brought up. Dont know what happened to the other brother.

Hi Jo

Thanks for the contact and the info on your family. My wife is the Zelley side of the tree and yes she certainly has Doset connections, Weymouth and Fleet in particular.
We will be visiting the area from the 7th to the 12th of October. We are visiting the UK and staying in Warwick and travelling around checking out a bit of family history on both sides of our families.
My wifes grandfather was a George Thomas Zelley, his father was Thomas Richard Zelley, his father was Richard Lovell Zelley and his parents were Joseph Zelley, b 13 January 1774 in Little Windsor Dorset who married Hannah Lovell b abt 1784 in Fleet, Dorset. Hope this is a bit of help to you, if you would like to contact me direct could you send me a Personal Message?
Cheers

Hi all,
Lizzy (Elizabeth) Lovell married John Thomas Brooks and they are my wife's relations. We have a number of photos of them, if interested. Elizabeth died in 1963.
