I would be overjoyed if someone could give me an idea of when Henry King, son of Nicholas, born in around 1850 in Hampshire arrived in Australia - I have just about given up.  I came out as a child (death certificate suggests under 10 but I feel it was later)  Married in sydney in 1871 (white) and again in 1875 (bennett).  Had some children rural NSW (hillend/sofala).

re the above adn previous post - of course that should read "HE came out as a child" - I was born here!
london - ash/camplin/Bailey; yorkshire - simpson/tyson/pexton; cornwall - bennett hodge/gold; ireland - johnston/cusack kenny
Australia NSW/SA from 1850 onwards + germany (prussia), holland, dutch east indies

Hi speller
In answer to your queries

first my great, great grandfather george drake was deported to australia for smuggling in about 1850, he left his family behind in norfolk.where do i start looking.

Are you in England and close to the Public Records Office in Kew?
They have convict records, so you would be able to find out where he was sent and on what ship.
The following website may help also.
http://www.coraweb.com.au/convict.htm
What information do you have on him? ie. parents, date of Birth etc.  Australian records are more detailed than English and can be searched by parents for death.

second, my aunt elsie and her two sons francis and billy went to australia in about 1950, i would like to get in touch again, where do i start.

With regards to your aunt elsie and family.   Did they come to Australia via assisted immigration scheme? Which state did they come too?  What is the surname?
Try this site:-

Cheers
Genni  :D

Hi Izzy

NSW records can be searched online for deaths & marriages to 1945, births to 1905.
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search?event=marriages

There appears to be only one Rossini marriage between 1920 & 1945.
Marie J Rossini married Clarence S Brazier in 1932.

Does your mother have any idea of her sisters married name?

Cheers
