1841 census look up - BAUGH
« on: Monday 26 June 06 14:53 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I would be grateful if someone could look up Beriah (Briar) Baugh born c1831.

There seem to be many records with this name on Family Search but different dates of birth and places of birth but all within a small range of years and I want to make sure I get the right one.

In the 1981 census Old Park, Shropshire is given as his place of birth but this is also Dawley I believe? Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue,

I can see at least 3!

1 age 10 at Dawley Magna Malenslee, adult in the household Elizabeth.
1 age 8 at Dawley Magna Malenslee, adults Richard and Jane
1 age 8 at Wellington, adults John and Rachel.

You'd need his marriage cert to establish parents  :-\

Thanks Tanja, you see the confusion! The problem is I can't find a marriage either, his wife is Ann b. 1829 Old Park too.
Could you give me details of the one aged 10, please?

Where have you searched for the marriage so far?
The complete indexes are currently free to search here

I see their first child (according to 1871 was born ca. 1854) so you might look for a marriage ca. 1853.

I didn't know about the earlier children who had left home by 1881 until just now.  On Free BMD and Ancestry I have found a marriage for Boriah Baugh and Ann Amis or Ann Norrell in Jun 1854 in Wellington but no others.

It might be useful to get hold of one of the children's birth certs to check Ann's maiden name...

The children that appear with the mother Elizabeth in 1841 appear to be on the IGI (C006572) as the children of Elizabeth and William Baugh in Stirchley.

Richard and Ann (late baptism for Richard?)1825
William 1827
Sarah 1828
Beriah 1830
Elizabeth 1833 (died 1834)
Elizabeth 1835

William Baugh married Elizabeth Griffiths in Dawley Magna in 1821? (IGI M008591)

William Baugh was buried at Stirchley St James 7 Jun 1835  aged 35 (NBI)
or less likely but possible
William Baugh was buried at Malinslee St Leonard 30 Nov 1837 aged 45 (NBI)
