Thank you, Wendi. I had not been there before.
Thought initially is was a bit expensive per search details at 15 pounds for 5 credits, then found there were 'free directory' bits as well! And have some Please's' on IOW. Must belong somewhere, so will snailmail and see what happens.

Hi it's been a while since you posted but I have Maggie E Please's granddaughter Jenny sitting beside me and curious to know where you fit in Sandra Parker?

It's a rather remote connection really, by marriage. I was interested in this side of the family as I had only childhood memories of a few relatives, my paternal grandparents, my grandma's sister Elizabeth Sarah Barton, the second wife of George Jacobs Please (1881-1960) and my grandma's brother in law, Matthew James Brownfield (1879-1957). I left England in 1949. My Aunt Elizabeth had no children of her own.
George Jacobs Please had been previously married to Elizabeth Mary Barton(1857-1935), known in the family as Lizzie. Lizzie was Elizabeth Sarah's aunt.
This is all I have found out about them. I hope you find it useful.

I think Jenny is a bit amazed due to not realising that George Jacobs Please had got married again as her Grandmother not her Mother have ever mentioned it! There has never been any information about a second marriage before so is interesting stuff! Thankyou for all the information!

Glad it was he was of interest. George was dead by the time I was born, but she always referred to her husband as Mr Please, never 'my husband' in conversation.
I don't know whether she was 'employed' to look after him after he was widowed, and things 'went from there', but there was a considerable age difference as you will have noticed. She never remarried.
You can imagine when I first went searching, how confusing to find to wives with the same name.
