City of London Burial?
« on: Monday 26 June 06 07:04 BST (UK) »
I would be very grateful if someone could please help me with a possible London burial.
I am looking for the burial of Robert Overton, who was married to Anne Child at St Alphage London wall in 1757. She was 54 at the time, so I am assuming that Robert was of a similar age. Anne was buried at Penshurst, Kent in 1763, and is described as the wife of Robert Overton, not the widow. He isn't buried at Penshurst, nor at Richmond, Surrey, where they may have lived at some time.
With thanks,
Alwynne

Hi Alwynne

Might this 1780 PCC will at the National Archives narrow down a death date or is it not like to be that of "your" Robert ???

That is definitely him, so thank you very much! The puzzling thing is that I swear I had already looked for a PCC will, but perhaps it has been added recently.
I have downloaded the will, and though he asked to be buried in Richmond with his first two wives, he isn't in the parish register. The will gives relatives in other parishes, so I shall try there.
Thank you for your help.
Cheers,
Alwynne
