Look-up, please, Grange Rd. Cemetery, Gillingham *COMPLETED THANKS*

If anyone will be visiting the Grange Road Cemetery, next to St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church in Gillingham, would you please do a look-up for me?  Or, if you live in Gillingham, would you phone the cemetery for me?

I know the plot & grave number of my 4th-great-grandfather (info provided by the Medway Council) and I'm guessing (& hoping) that some of his family members were buried with or near him.

Rather than posting every detail here, if someone is willing and able to do this look-up, would you please PM me?

Hi i live in gillingham and could pass thru cemetary but alot of graves have no headstones now and a playpark has been built in the graveyard but i would be willing to look for you

Let us know how you get on.  A lot of my ancestors were buried there - I took a trip down there, but sadly none of them remained.   :'(

I'd love to know that someone else had some success.

Letley mainly.  My life has been made easier because the majority of them remained in the same area through lots of generations.  I (foolishly) thought, I would be able to find out absolutely everything that I wanted as I am in the area as well.

I know what you mean about it being easier when folks stayed in one place, Jen!  When I had a subscription to ancestry.com, I just went through each census of Calais, Maine page by page, because I had so many folks there way back when.  It's a great way to build a family tree and find connections between various branches, if they stayed put!

I just checked and I don't have any Letleys in my tree, as far as I know.  Too bad (I'm always hoping to find some cousins!).

Hi

Visited the graveyard but unfortunately most graves are either damaged or gone completely, had a look anyway but none of the names on your list were on the remaining graves. Best bet is to contact the church vicarage at least you will be able to find out where the plots would have been.

the church vicarage is in gillingham green not grange road.
