Dunfermline Press Death Notice 1937
« on: Wednesday 21 June 06 10:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Does anyone have access to Dunfermline Press archives for about 16th Nov 1937? I am hunting for the Death Notice and acknowledgement for John McCormack. The Co-op funeral invoice indicates that they were posted in the Press.

Many thanks

Brigcs

Don't have access to the archive, but they have a website at www.dunfermlinepress.com which has contact details - perhaps some kind person at the newspaper could point you in the right direction?

Thanks Anna,

They pointed me in the direction of Dunfermline library!! Since I'm down south in Hants it will be a while before I get up there! I think that one day we will have to go on a Grand Tour of the country visiting all the record offices and graveyards that hold my clues!!

Best wishes

Brig :)

Oh dear, that's not very helpful!! I tried google and didn't come up with a direct link to the library, but there's a good family history website at fifefhs.org where someone might be able to help you.
Sorry I can't shed any more light!
Anna

PS your tour sounds like a good idea though!

Hya Brig, why don't you ring the Library, give them your information and offer to pay for a photocopy of that particular article. They did this for me and was very helpful.

Hello Brigcs
I reiterate Gen10's suggestion and add that the people at the family history section of Dunfermline Central Library are very helpful. They have digital archives of certain local newspapers and can do a name search for you quite easily.
I was very impressed by them and all the stuff they turned up for me.
The tel no is 01383 312994.

Many thanks Gen10 and Malmo. I'll try that later today after a spot of real work!

I hope you both have a good day.

Hi all,

I can report back that the Dunfermline library have come back to me with copies of the info that I needed. It was really kind of them as I am sure they get fed up with us all! I sent a mail, the reply took a while but that didn't matter. It would have been maybe a year or so before I get up that way.

Thanks for all of your help.

Best wishes

Brig
