Hi Trish, Yes James Hammett returned to his native village and died there in 1891 The others all emigrated toCanada. If he had stayed in Australia I wouldn't have to be going through our nightmare emigration application! We are hoping to join you next year!

And here I am envious of you over there and wanting to come back      It is a big step to take, I wish you much success. There are many immigrants much more recent than myself (my dorset folks left 1850) who will no doubt give all sorts of advice. Where are you planning to go?

We had family that lived on Salisbury St

I was about to go to bed (being 1am in my world) when your post arrived. Tis my mother's family that came from Shaftesbury - their name was Miles - I haven't seen any of your names in my tree.
