Kingsley records - Spruce
« on: Sunday 18 June 06 21:52 BST (UK) »
My gg grandfather was born in Kingsley in 1821 (according to the 1851 census). His father's name was Richard Spruce. Any further information about him would be really great. Many thanks.

Hi John

What is your gg grandfathers name? You give that of his father but not him  ;D

Are you after finding the family in 1841? Or in later censuses?

Regards

Carol

Hi John

Having done a bit with your other posts I see that this particular line of Spruces seems to have been researched by someone else and all their results are in the IGI at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/  I have had a quick look and they have the Spruces back to 1754 at least, there are lots of entries and may take a bit off sorting out so if you need any help please ask.

Richard married a Mary Spruce at Frodsham 24/Jan/1815 she could have been related by blood or marriage, not found anything to convince me one way or t'other.

This is Richard in the 1841 and 1851 census not sure where son John is. Does his marriage certificate give any witness names?

1841 HO107-96-18-Folio3 Page6 Kingswood Delamere Parish of Frodsham all born in the county.

Many thanks, Peter. This is very exciting. John and Sarah Bostock's wedding was on 10 Oct 1838. The witnesses were Thomas Lewis and Mary Illidge.

I'll now look up the Spruces and may take up your kind offer of help.

Best wishes,
John

Hi Carol,

My gg grandfather was John Spruce. As you can see from my original entry peterbennet has provided some very interesting information. There seem to have been a few Spruce families in Cheshire in the early part of the 19th century, so it's a bit confusing at present - but exciting!
Best wishes,
John
