OK, this is a real shot in the dark, because I have no details, but hey, you have to try these things if you want to move forward.

about the turn of the 20C, a member of the Knightley family married a German lady and moved to germany. Thats the last we know of him and his wife.

So yes you've guessed it, I am looking for his descendants. there cant be many Knightleys in Germany... if they survived two world wars.

Anybody out there know anything????
Thanks in advance,
John Edwards.

Hi John,

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

I looked in the Berlin telephone book (with pop. over 3.5 million this is the largest city in Germany) and found 8 entries for KNIGHT and NO entries for KNIGHTLY. I tried an online directory and found NO Knightleys.

With the anti-british feelings rising, after 1910, I would be very surprised if he'd stayed in Germany.

Unless you have any other information, you may have to wait till 2011 and see if he was back in Britain by 1911.

Do you have any other information at all  ???

Bob
