I just talked to my husband's step-mother and she said that the cemetery is in that bunch of trees, so I will try to hop a bus over there this weekend, at least being under the trees will make the heat a little more bearable. Have to remember to charge the camera batteries tomorrow then. And you were right, it is in Hamilton, barely, but still just inside city bounderies. City bounderies are supposed to end at Centennial Parkway, but I have seen it mapped as far in as Gray's road.

wish me luck. lol

I don't know how high it has been getting there but it is supposed to stay in the low to mid 40's with the humidity for the next week. There was a slight break, actually it is kind of still here because a storm just rolled through with lots of lightening. I was really hoping that it was going to give us a break from the heat and humidity but so far not much chance. I am breaking out badly with heat rash and I noticed my son is starting to break out right where the waist band on his shorts sits when my husband was giving him a bath tonight, I am surprised that his isn't worse with being in diapers still. It was all over his stomach last summer and with only being 7-8 months last summer my only option was bathing him as often as needed and regularly rubbing on the baby powder. I really want to get us a family size pool to stick in the backyard this summer, but it isn't looking all that promising so far unless my mother-in-law buys it when she comes to visit this month. Where we just moved we are further away from the water now. Even though it was the shipping docks we were closest to where we lived before it was still part of the lake and we were only a block from it then, now I can't even walk to the water, it is too hot and too far now and there are no splash pads or public water parks in this area that I have found yet. The only one that I know of is not cheap and there is not a lot of shade there either.

Well, enough of my off topic chatting.

Hi,
Its been nearly 40 c,which is very hot for here, but the weather has just changed and its cool and wet now,i dont think its going to last though, its surposed to turn hot again,Sorry to hear your little one is suffering with it,my daughter is just turned three, but she suffered with nappie rash alot during the hot weather when she was younger. Now the heat just means its harder to get her to go to sleep.I moved inland a couple of years ago,i used to live in a seaside town, infact i was only about five minutes from the beach but now im about 9 miles inland.

this is not normal weather for England is it? I live in Hamilton as you now know and no as some people think it does not snow as soon as you cross the border from the US to Canada. It is very hot here right now and I wish that it would cool down, 20C would be wonderful right now. I don't so much mind the heat, it is the humidity. Both Gabriel and I have asthma but mine is so little now that I haven't needed puffers in years, his on the other hand requires 2 different puffers twice a day. So this humidity is really not good.

Gerome,

just so you don't think I have forgotten about you, I haven't. I keep finding things that I have to go out to get with just moving in here a week ago, then putting up the new blinds, 2 down 3 more to go, now since my washer decided to stop working on me a few weeks ago I have to go out again to do my laundry and with moving that wasn't a top priority until someone is one pair away from being out of clean underwear again. Half of the clothes I washed 2 weeks ago are still clean in a bag, somewhere around here. Tuesday it is supposed to be cooler with no humidity and the same for wednesday. Both days are filled now with Laundry and wednesday I am going to my mom's so she can help me and Gabe make Shaun's birthday present without him seeing what it is for a few more weeks. Thursday is supposed to be humid again but the weekend is looking really nice so I am going to make my best effort to go on Friday to the cemetery and get the picture for you.

I was just looking at the name again and relation, do you know if you are related to Ernie Coombes? Or better known as Mr. Dressup children's television actor?

Also MJP, where are you from? I figured that you are from Canada since we were talking about the census form from this year, but I also saw that you are a relation to Prior, I know a family by that name in the city here.

Hiya,
Thats ok,i know what its like when you move house, its good of you  to take a look for me and i don't think they are going anywhere so a little while longer doesn't matter..I don't know of an Ernie Coombes and i haven't heard of the actor, what i do know is patchy really,my father told us that his uncle Walter Coombes moved to Canada became a millionaire(apparently owned a cinema or chain of cinemas) and cut off contact with the family, there are no records of him in UK after about age twenty and there is a record of an arrival at Niagara which is an exact match and also this grave seems to match .i have traced the UK Coombeses back to 1800,but this fairly close relative is still a bit of a mystery.Weather has turned quite hot here again too, been away for the weekend and now also have a mountain of washing!

washing is the chore of the day here too, moving has turned up a lot of dirty laundry and dishes that I didn't have time or energy to do before moving. This is the second time we moved with dirty dishes and I hope to never do that again, boxing up dirty dishes and then forgetting about which box you put them in for a week or more is a horrible sight to come across once you do. The laundry I was supposed to do that today but my taxi, I mean my mom didn't get to my place until 20 minutes before last load and it takes about that amount of time to drive to the cleaners that I prefer to go to still. Since Shaun has no plans for tomorrow I have signed him up for laundry and now we are going litterally from one extreme end of the city to the opposite extreme end of the city to my mom's place while she is babysitting my cousin's daughter to do laundry and get this present for Shaun made and hidden while he is in the same apartment and my little cousin can't keep a secret to save her life so I think that we will be waiting until after she gets picked up to do the shirt and card then Shaun can go ahead and give Gabe his bath and hopefully he won't get too suspicious as to why his son has blue hands.

And yes, that is true that he won't be going anywhere soon, but I would be one of the first to know if any were to come back as zombies. lol

If thursday is going to be like today and not too hot then I will send Shaun to visit his Nana and take Gabe but if it is too warm that day I am still aiming for friday.

Janine

PS ~ you don't happen to know the name of the cinema(s) do you?

Hi Janine,
No im afraid i dont know the cinema name,i wish i did,it would be interesting to know what happened to it,wether it is still going or wether it was bought up by one of the others, just think it might be one of the well known ones!,he must have been i bit of a snob though because my father said as soon as he made his fortune,he cut off all contact with the rest of the family,it would just be interesting to find out about it as its an unusual story. As i said i have been tracing my family(only for about the last three months)and i have got back to about 1800,the earliest Coombes i have got had a wife called Sarah and i have her line back to 1700 but it would be good to find out what happend to this Walter as he would be quite a close relative,he would be my gr,uncle. It would be interesting to know what relatives i have in Canada,my wife has relatives there, and we went there earlier this year, just before i started looking into my family tree. Her relatives are in Woodbridge, which i think is fairly close to you.
Hope things are starting to settle down for you, take care,
Gerome.
