« on: Sunday 11 June 06 22:13 BST (UK) »
my 3x great grandparents duncan and jane ogilvie nee johnson married in south shields sometime in the late 1840's
i cannot find them at all in any census for south shields ,i would love to know duncan ogilvie's place of birth ,duncan has listed as donkin on some of their childrens christening records and i know some of their children married in south shields but i am confused as to why i cant find them in census
some of their kids were
ann or annie duncan /donkin ogilvie
john jefferson ogilvie
possibly a hannah ogilvie

faithfully

There is one entry for a Duncan Ogilvie on the Scotland's People website for a baptism from the years 1818-1823.  This is a pay per view site.

My family are from south shields and my great great great grandfather was Duncan Ogilvie master mariner, born arbroath, married jane johnson. he died at sea on his ship the nestor in terrible storms off the east coast. Also alexander Hunter is a relative. are we talking about the same person here? sorry i am new to the site and registered as i saw this post from way back. thanks. graeme
