Hi Eilidh,
A scanner is a fairly basic piece of equipment.I purchased
a new all singing, all dancing, scanner and replaced my old trusty
one.   Apart from a few modern gimmicks (dust removal etc, ) it
doesn't do anything that my old one couldn't do. If your old one works
O.K. and has no faults then continue using it. (Unless of course you
are itching to spend some money) By the way you haven't given any indication as to what the initials may stand for. We are a nosy lot on this section and require that our curiosty is satiated,
Tomkin :) :) :)

Hi Tomkin, wish I knew what the initials were. My mother who is 84 years gave me this wee photo of her mother only last month. Said that she worked as a postie during WW1 delivering mail in the Campsies.  Apparently when my Granny was 22years old she married in Duntocher, had my mother, and the family moved to Baillieston.  I was hoping that the RNI stood for something in the Royal Post  :-\ Ah well maybe something will come to light hopefully.  Bye for now.

hello eilidh,I just enlarged the initials on the tie ,it wasn't very clear but i think that it may be R.N.O. So it could be a local office with ROYAL ..........OFFICE or not! I think the thing under her left arm is the standard post bag.the buckle looks familiar for that type of bag! hope its of some help. You could try the P.O. historical web site if there is one.

Hello Keith, Skippy, & edgedeva, many thanks for all your input. Will make a few enquiries to see if there is a Scottish Post Office Archive Office.
