Hi Carole - hope you are well.
I went to Frampton on Severn this afternoon for a quick look round. I found in the church, St Mary the Virgin, two 'Frape' graves. Details as follows:
First stone
Emilia? (Emily perhaps)
Wife of John Frederick Frape
died 13th December 1856
aged 27 years. The one who died of consumption?
Second stone
John Frape, died 2nd September 1851, aged 85.
Ann his wife died 22nd October 1848, aged 85 years.
Also Alfred, son of Giles and Mary Frape, died 19th June 1848, aged 13.
Giles Powell Frape son, died 24th Octber 1847, aged 23 years.
The inscription is not too clear due to weathering, but its there tucked away behind the church, beside the path, looking towards the canal. Will take a camera next time as we only had the phone cameras.
Asked someone in the church who was tending the grass and they were in their 70s, having grown up in the village they did not know of any Frapes during their live time.
They took my phone number and said if they hear anything they will let me know.
I looked for Church Court where Giles and Mary and his family lived and there is a Church Court Cottages right in front of the church. Looks like it would have been a little row of cottages at on time but its now one.
Will keep looking.
