Yes . Thank you . I am still looking for George Armitage (senior) occ stonemason. The info that George (junior) married a woman born in Ireland makes my heart sink! I haven't had any luck tracing Irish ancestors and I keep finding more! ::)

Hello,
I have written a 180 page biographical treatise of George Armitage (b. Bradford,1795, d. Birkdale,1868), stonemason of Bradford, soldier in the British Army and Police Superintendent in the Lancashire Constabulary. A copy has already been deposited in the library at Lancashire Archives in Preston and I intend to upload a slightly revised text on the Archive.org website where it will be free to read. When I have done so I will place a notification on the RootsChat website. Thank you for your interest. Bradshaw, D.

I belive the george armitage from bradford ex soldier turned police superintendent 1795-1868  is related to sir elkanha armitage and is also tied in to the baronetcy branch or armytage and his wife is ruth hampson and they are my x5 great grandparents  thru their son john Hutchinson Armitage and I do belive they are the true branch
