Hi Jim,

I sent the info to Lindsay but being in Thailand, she's off to bed!

Have a look at this link:

http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/BirthDeathMarriage_Citizenship/Death/Burialgrounds/

If you go to multimap.com and key in any of the postcodes, you'll see where they all are.

There is another cemetery called Bedlay, which comes under North Lanarkshire and is quite near Chryston.

I found the following:

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/accessions/2004/04returns/04ac1778.htm

It says on this link that the Archives have: "Bedlay Cemetery, Chryston: register of interments, corresp, lair plans 1879-1975 (U125)"

Also:

http://www.northlan.gov.uk/living+here/births+marriages+and+deaths/deaths/bedlay+cemetery+moodiesburn.html

Hope this helps!

Anne

Hi,

there are a few possibilities for Lenzie/Chryston. Cadder cemetery seems the nearest but there is also Old Aisle Cemetery in Kirkintilloch. You could try contacting the William Patrick Library in Kirkintilloch as they hold a lot of info for the area.

Hi Jamy

My family are from Possilpark which is 2 mins from Maryhill and they are all buried in St.Kentigerns, now also known as Northern Necropolis.

St Kentigerns and Lambhill cemetry are right next door to one another, there is in fact no dividing line and they are huge.
I would think that any deceased from Maryhill would be in either St.Kentigerns or Lambhill as they are only 5 mins away.
Sighthill cemetry is in fact at least 15 mins drive from Maryhill.

The Mitchell library has buriel indexes on microfilm for all glasgow cemetrys, these indexes cover from the 18th century to the 1950's.
They are chronological therefore you need the date to search but as you know the date of death it shouldn't be too hard.
The Mitchell library may search for you for a fee.

Good Luck
Debbie

Just wanted to thank all of you for your help.    I did find my greatgrandfather in Sighthill Cemetery.(with help from Billy Anderson)   and also my grandparents in Old Aisle Cemetery.

We had a wonderful trip and great weather.   I feel very lucky to have found these gravesites.

Thanks again for all your help
