Folks,

Not sure if you are interested, but I've just downloaded an OPR from SP only to find that the name above the one that I am interested is 'Mantoch'.

From Rothes and Dundurcas Parish dated 29 October 1811.

"Peter Mantoch Farmer in Dundurcas and his spouse Ann Gerrie had a child baptized and named John.  Witnesses John Mantoch the child's grand father and John Ricysec (?) in the Parish of Speymouth and Elspeth Gerrie in Orquhart"

I have some information about the family of that time but not the exact line.  My ancestor was William Mantach (b 31.8.1805) son of John Mantach and Elizabeth (nee Grant), one of 7 children, Ann (1794), Jannet (1797), Elspeth (1799), John (1801), James (1803) & Beatrix (1809)

Robert Mantach (Australia)

Hi Robert
Is your ancestor William Mantach b 1841 in Rothes (son of William you referred to above) married Ellen aka Helen Allan and travelled together to Tasmania in 1862?  Ellen Allan is my GGG Grandmother through her first child (illegitimate) George Allan born 1855.
Would be very interesting to know if there is a link and whether you have any information about Ellen Allan from her time in Tasmania. ( I have details of all of William and Ellen's children etc).
Regards,
Troy Allen (Queensland Australia)
