I know someone who's gg Aunt was a saloon steward on the Titanic, she survived the Titanic and also it's 2 sister ships the Brittanic and the Olympic when they had disasters. Her name was Violet Jessop.

Yes - What an amazing story she told - maybe in practise of surviving all 3 disasters . . .

I don't have any ancestors who were connected with the Titanic but at one of my local cemeteries - Preston Cemetery, North Shields - there is an inscription at the base of a large family memorial for a William Thomas Stead who drowned. This is the inscription:

'ALSO OF THEIR SON WILLIAM THOMAS STEAD JOURNALIST
CHAMPION OF DEFENCELESS WOMANHOOD APOSTLE OF UNIVERSAL PEACE
FOUNDER OF REVIEW OF REVIEWS AND AUTHOR OF THE MAIDEN TRIBUTE OF MODERN BABYLON (1885) WHO WENT DOWN WITH THE TITANIC IN MID ATLANTIC APRIL 15TH 1912 AGED 62 YEARS'

My grandfather, together with another lad from the village, booked to sail on Titanic but were prevented from sailing by family illness. They completed the crossing three weeks later.
Their "narrow escape" was reported in the local press.

Two years  later he made the crossing again, on board Olympic, sister ship to Titanic.

My great-great aunt, Harriet Barden Parsons, had a nephew by marriage named Philip Roy Pont who married a Titanic survivor, Annie Harper, who was 6 at the time of the sinking.  Philip was born in Heathfield, Sussex, but the couple lived in Scotland. He was a clergyman.
