Agree - it's dead slow at the moment - started playing up about 1/2 hr ago.

Maybe it's not RootsChat itself, but ancestry (i.e. the advertising) that's the problem.

When I click on a link I get a blank screen for several seconds (up to a minute)
but at the bottom of the browser it says "Waiting for www.ancestry.co.uk"

No mine's just 'waiting for Rc' - even when I use the spell check it's slow

There's aren't a hugh number of users on at the moment either, compared to sometimes in the evening?

It would depend what they were doing though, wouldn't it.
I got impatient and logged out and it took me ages to get back in and on to the home page.
Maybe there are a lot of people on here who should be working

If anything it seems to be getting worse, I just waited 3 minutes for the page to change!

I'm not sure what strain differnet activities would put on the server. i've just checked the who's online and most people are just viewing, 6 posting and 1 searching. The odd unknown and a message!

But it has speeded up now.
