The family is quite difficult to find on the censuses (the 1841 was quite straightforward!). Can't see where they are in 1851. I have found Fanny and Andrew living together in 1861, Fanny is showing as widow.

Now, Ellen (not sure when she was born, her age seems to change by census but somewhere between 1842-47) reported Fanny's death in 1898 in Glasgow City, which is where I picked up her trail.

She was obviously called after Fanny's mother. This is her marriage entry on IGI:

ELLEN PATERSON BROWN     Marriages: Spouse: ROBERT WYPER
Marriage: 31 DEC 1869  Govan, Lanark, Scotland

These are some of her children, but she had a number more by the 1881 census:

1. ROBERT WYPER  Birth: 21 MAR 1872 Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland
2. MARGARET PENMAN WYPER Birth: 13 OCT 1870 Govan, Lanark, Scotland
3. MARY WYPER Birth: 16 MAR 1874 Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

Oh, my...that is my family! I always wondered where the Wyper name came from. And now, thanks to you, I do. I love the free census. USA is so very limited-and greedy, too.
