Hi,

I would love any help with locating my John Jordan who lived at 13 Balkan Street up to 1926. I am interested in finding out how long he had been living at this address with his family--I know he died in 1926.

Also, if it is possible to locate him in 1911 to see if he was in Belfast or not so I know where to look for him in the census (in Ireland or Scotland). I know it is quite a good 5 year away for Scotland--just wanted to know so I can be prepared. :)

Hope for any helpful clues on John Jordan.

Kind regards,

Tees

Hi Anthony,

Would you kindly look-up the NEWS name for me?

Interested in any listing of that name.

One of my ancestors was Patrick NEWS, farmer who was m. in Craigavon, Seagoe, Co Armagh.

With thanks,
Gail (in Australia)

Click here to learn about the street directories covering the years 1819 to 1900 that PRONI have now put online. These directories consist of original volumes held by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland.

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for this link - very interesting and it looks like another few mis-spent hours for me coming up.

Just checked quickly for the DYNES name - lots of them but the NEWS name would be impossible, I think, because of all the references to newspapers etc. that show up.

I appreciate all the help you give.

All the best,
Gail

Hi Gail,

I know about mis spent youth but mis spent time on RootsChat and time that I'm spending as an almost seventy year old with young musicians is getting ridiculous. I'm coming home when the birds start the dawn chorus ... I suppose it might be OK as I'm now the proud holder of a student card as well as a senior citizens bus pass 8)

Sounds like a pretty good way to spend your older years, Christopher 8) -  cooler than bowling!

Greetings Christopher, Would you be so kind as to have a look at the Gravestone Inscriptions, Belfast Vols 1,3,4, and Antrim Vol 4 for a James Gallagher d 26 Jan 1929 Belfast? His wife was Anne Crowcock, I have no record of her death.

Thank you for your time and trouble.

Hi Christopher  :-\

Can I take it that your directories cover Co Donegal? In particular I am trying to trace Richard McGirle (sometimes spelt McGarrell, Magarrel) born in Co Donegal around 1817. He was a shoemaker to trade. Married Ann Livingstone c1819 (also born in Donegal) and they moved to Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland in the 1850s. They had a daughter Amelia, also born in Ireland.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Margaret
