HIMES (HINES, HYAMS & variations) and MOSS - research from Australia

I have some information on Cornelius Hines -he was convicted at the Old Bailey and the records were available online.  Conviction - 7 years transportation.  Arrived on the Asia.

I am trying to look for his parents - Cornelius Himes (there is some variation in the spellings) and Mary Moss, married in 1802 at Stepney, London.  Hence my posting on the England board.

Just had a thought, I am looking for an entry into Australia of a man who gave his name as THOMAS HENRY EMMS when he married in 1842.

I have not been able to locate any arrival convict or otherwise with this name. He suposedly arrived in 1826 when he would have been about 7 years old.

AS I have been searching for quite some time now I have moved on to acronyms etc and Thos HY Emms
might well have been written for Thos HYAMS. What do you know about your Thomas Hyam?

I ask this as there is a complete lack of any reference to any Thomas Emms in the colonies in the period before his marriage. This is most unusual one would have expected a reference of some kind to show up. Perhaps ypour Cornelius used an alias!

He is the only one of 22 arrivals into Australia that I have not been able to pin down.

Cornelius came to Australia as a convict, arrived 1825 aged about 20. So no connection to your family. Good luck with your research.
