Hi,

I am researching this line from Sydney.

Cornelius John Hines b. 23 July 1805 Stepney, London
He was convicted of larceny and transported to Australia arriving in 1810.    

His parents are believed to be Cornelius HIMES and Mary MOSS who were married on 13 April 1802 in St Dunstan's Church, Stepney.

Any further information on this line would be appreciated.   ;D

hi do you have any hine marrying a wharton in your line. my robert hine wharton is a mystery man. he was born in london 1852. his father was a draper. we can get no further. thanks ajn

These Hines people do seem to be a problem !!
Have either of you  come upon a  Hines -Donovan  c 1851 Ireland / Suffolk, place of birth seems to disagree and also  using double barreled surname.

Are you really saying that he was born in 1805 and was convicted of larceny at age 5 and transported to Oz  :o Was this his first crime  ???

Hi Coriolana

With regards to your Cornelius Hine.
Where was he tried?
Do you have the transcript from his trial?
Larceny usually resulted in a death sentence, was his sentence reduced to transportation for life? 
Have you checked for a newspaper report?
What trade/occupation was listed on his convict records?

Sorry to bombard you with questions but I might be able to make a few suggestions, if I have some more information.
