COMPLETED...applause...This one's a challenge...
« on: Thursday 25 May 06 15:03 BST (UK) »
Dear Photo Fixer-uppers, can anything be done with my great grandparent's 1901 wedding photo?

I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but my g.granddad was 6ft7in and it was the family joke that he had to sit down in all the photos.  [NB He had blue eyes, and she had dark brown hair in case you're feeling inclined for colour.]

Ta, Allycat.  ;)

Here is a quick clean and polish for you.

I'll have a go at colouring later.

Pity the photographer got the pot plant in focus, but nothing else  ::) ::) ::)  ;D ;D ;D

6ft 7!  That's a tall man, even by today's standards!  Now that you mention it, his limbs do look very long. It's a lovely photo  :)

Dear Harry, Penny, and Mike as usual ... brilliant work guys ... thank you all very much.

Prue, yes I noticed the pot plant looked pretty good in the original 105 year old photo!  But I'm not complaining, it really is a treasure to have a photo of one's great grandparents when you consider that times were hard for them, and they possibly only ever had two photographs taken in their whole lifetime if they were lucky.

And Lawrence Martin Cantwell aka Larry really was tall!  One other thing I know about him was that he used to play the violin, which somebody in the family still has although it must be rather decrepit by now.  So far his descendants have only reached round the usual 6ft in height, except myself  ;D, must have taken after my g.grandmother 5ft2in.

Check out this site ... it's of a Cantwell ancestor who was a Norman Knight.  It's an effigy of Cantwell Fada (the long man):-

Cheerio to all and have a good day.  A very happy Allycat.
