the maidenhead advertiser produced a book called ''the images of maidenhead'' in 1997, it contains two photos of garden cottages ,one of the last resident before the houses were demolished in the 1960's.

slough museum also have some items on maidenhead that may be of interest.

i have completed a lot of family research in and around maidenhead and found bits and pieces regarding places that we regard as berkshire today in buckinghamshire and vise versa.
slough library also hold a great deal of information on maidenhead, i suppose because its larger and more central.
i have been chasing information on my mum who died when i was 11 for a couple of years now, she lived all of her life in bucks but i tracked the info down in berks

Hello all,
I just found this thread and joined rootschat straight away. Abiam, your ancestors and mine were next door neighbours in East Street in 1881. No.12, John and Sarah Collins, living next to William and Ann Vincent.

A couple of good pictures of East Street are in the book 'Yesterday's Town Maidenhead' in Maidenhead library.
The National School minute books are in the BRO. Tends to be more stats of pupils admitted and general school order, rather than individual pupil names, but some names are listed

I think it was owned by her husband Dennis Hamilton but her name was used mostly.
Many a happy hour spent there in my mispent youth!
