Hello Weebird,
A very warm welcome to Rootschat. I hope you find it friendly and helpful, as we all do our best to help each other.
To find the history of Tyrrells/Tirells, we might have to go to the Nation Archives records. I believe it possibly is Salvation Army barracks. Possibly moneys given by John Tyrell.
The Tyrell name has many asso with 'our' area. As far back as the civil war 14/1600's in a list of creditors for the King. Click on link below....
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/displaycataloguedetails.asp?CATLN=7&CATID=-4487131&j=1The building is on the North side of the A4. In Cookham registration district.
If you have any family on the South side of A4, they will be in Bray reg dist.
I am from Maidenhead and I sometimes visit the 'old home' library. The M'head Advertizer is on fiche there. Many other useful resources.
The buildings had lots of local families, mine included, before they were moved to the Cordwallis area, north of the town.
I hope the above is helpful.
Please post again on this 'thread' as most are 'old Maidonians'.
Lesanne.
