Worry not Rachael......Steady on there Tomkin Mate ;D....it was my fault, and I do apologise, I can well understand you thinking your post was being Hijacked.....Army and Badges attract attention..it's a man thing.. ;D ;D ;D I was just taken by the Badge.....there just has to be some kind of History there.....was your Aunts Husband away at War somewhere??...

Anyway...heres just a quick go at Aunty and Babe for you...someone is probably already hot-foot with more attempts.....

Best Regards, Michael72

Hi Rachael,
I didn't think you sounded rude, if that's any consolation!  :)  I knew you were just bringing the thread back down the original track, so no offense taken here at least  :)
Now, I've just done a very basic tidy up and added a sepia colour - I hope you like it.  Not sure it's particularly good  :-\
Cheers
 :D

Heres another quicky.....I've had a couple of 'Scotch nightcaps' so I'm not sure I should be trusted with any more attempts tonight... ;D ;D ;D

Hi Rachael,
I'm posting the first stage because it's shopping day
tomorrow. Will continue and post the finished job when I've spent up.

WOW :o! These are all so great everyone! They're amazing considering the quality of the original!

The lady in the picture is my Aunty Mary, she never got married because her fiancee was killed in WW2. I know she was in the military (my dad has seen photos of her in the uniform) so the badge was probably hers for some reason or another. The baby was probably one of her sisiter Jenny's (who I first thought the photo was of) children. Aunty Jenny and Aunty Mary both look so alike in old photos you can't tell them apart! Aunty Mary died last year at the age of 89 but she had an exciting and very full life, she travelled around the world!

Thanks again!

It's doubtful your Aunty was in the Durham Light Infantry, but her Fiance might well have been.....if you knew his name it would be easy to find out his military History....she was obviously wearing his Regimental Badge for some reason.....maybe in Memory?...
